Dividend Income Report, May 2018

Published by Nick Mackintosh on

Hey everyone and welcome to my Dividend Income series! This will be for you to see the income I receive in my Stocks & Shares ISA and the changes compared to the previous year. The great thing about investing is that you get paid several times a year by the companies you’ve put money into! So not only do you get a paycheck from your employer, you also get paid several times a month from extremely well run businesses.

Another fantastic reason to invest is that some companies have a dividend policy to increase the dividend to shareholders every year in relation to the growth in earnings. If you’ve invested in companies with high growth, you could be looking at a dividend increase of 10-20% a year! I can bet top dollar that your employer was never generous enough to offer that! Most don’t even give a payrise in-line with inflation! As I mentioned in my article, increasing dividends are usually far larger than inflation providing you with a real pay increase every year.

Dividends Received

For May I had a total of 8 companies, these will be listed below compared to the same period the previous year. The only noticeable change was Omega Healthcare Investors, and this was due to me doubling my position. The other changes are due to a foreign exchange impact from the GBP/USD pair.

Company May 2017 May 2018 Change
Chatham Lodging Trust £5.43 £5.30 -2.39%
EPR Properties £6.04
Gladstone Investment Corp £7.34 £7.47 1.77%
Omega Healthcare Investors £24.86 £46.80 88.25%
PennantPark Floating Rate £10.17
Solar Senior Capital £8.46
Stag Industrial £7.92 £7.73 -2.40%
InfraCap MLP ETF £19.34
Old Positions £54.05
Total £99.60 £111.31 11.76%

A nice result for May even though the 11.76% increase was due to capital being allocated into the portfolio. As you can tell by the chart above, Feb/May/Aug/Nov are the months where I’m paid the least compared to the others. For June I’m expecting around £300 as I’ll be receiving my first dividend from Legal & General.

Dividend Changes Announced In May

Imperial Brands (LON:IMB) declares a 10% increase to the interim dividend.

Ladder Capital Corp (NYSE:LADR) declares $0.325/share quarterly dividend3.2% increase from prior dividend of $0.315.
